PHILIPSBURG – NV GEBE, in recognizing the importance of facilitating and stimulating job creation on St. Maarten, signed an MOU with the Head of Labor Affairs Peggy Ann Dros-Richardson, on Tuesday, November 22.

The three-year agreement has been designed to establish a partnership between NV GEBE and the Labor Department with the keen intent to facilitate training opportunities amongst the local population within the Government-owned company.

NV GEBE will be responsible for the facilitation of any theoretical and or practical training that will allow trainees to further enhance their skills and competencies that will prepare them for the demands of the labor market. A variation of activities aimed to raise awareness of the possibilities in the area of electrical and water distribution will comprise of elements that will be further developed between the two signing parties

“This agreement will eventually allow NV GEBE to tap into the developed skills and competencies of the trainees and allow us to recruit and hire the trained individuals to enter the employment of the company. With the organized and practical training received, other companies will have the opportunity to benefit from these individuals as well,” a statement said.
