PHILIPSBURG – GEBE revealed in a press release the lucky winners of its 2016 Christmas Lighting Competition. Five lucky winners were awarded a cash prize, electricity credit and a framed photo of their lit home.
Participants’ homes were transformed into magical displays incorporating the judging criteria which were: creativity, traditional display, first impression and special effects. The panel of judges visited the homes of the participants and judged their elaborate Christmas light display.
CEO Kenrick Chittick congratulated all the participants for bringing extra sparkle and Christmas cheer to the community of St. Maarten. Chittick stated, “The participants put a huge amount of time and effort into their displays and brought a great deal of excitement and festive transformation to their neighborhoods.”
The winners are:
1st place – Marcia B. Williams, Hibiscus Road, Saunders
2nd place – Chris Fleming, Sucker Garden
3rd place – Letticia Peterson, Cole Bay Round-a-bout
4th place – Pauline Gumbs, Walter Nisbeth Road
5th place – Hendricka Martina, South Reward
GEBE thanked all the persons who annually light their homes during the Christmas season and maintain the Christmas culture on St. Maarten.
