GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – The Fire Department is requesting motorists to remain off the road network due to heavy street flooding.
Those already on the road network should drive with extreme caution and avoid flooded areas; those driving along hillsides should drive with caution and beware of rock-falls.
The conditions according to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten is due to a tropical wave and a mid-to-upper level trough which is producing instability across the Eastern Caribbean.
There will be scattered showers to isolated thunderstorms; wind speeds up to 22 miles per hour, and higher gusts.
Showers may become heavy at times, therefore, residents and users of areas prone to flooding should be vigilant as street-flooding may occur.
Slight to moderate seas are expected for the next few days with waves peaking near 6 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
