49 yrs. old man on bail for having unlawful intercourse with a minor

The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Tuesday 26^th December, 2017 arrested and charged a 49 years old man of North Side with rape.

The alleged offender who was taken before the Magistrate’s Court on Friday 29^th December, 2017 charged with having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor was granted bail in the sum of EC $80,000.00 with two sureties.

His conditions of bail are to surrender all travel documents, report to The Valley Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as well as to observe a curfew from 7:00pm to 6:00am daily.  He has also been ordered by the court to avoid having any contact with the virtual complainant in the matter whether directly or indirectly and to be of good behaviour and keep the peace.

He is to return to court on Thursday 12^thApril, 2018 to answer to the charge.

The RAPF would like to remind the public that:

1. The defendant is entitled to a fair trial;
2. There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty;
3. Nothing would be stated or published which would prejudice a fair trial taking place; and
4. Section 115(g) of the Criminal Code applies and which provides for an offence in respect of any person who, while a judicial proceeding is pending, makes use of any speech or writing misrepresenting such proceeding or capable of prejudicing any person in favor of or against any parties to such proceeding, or calculated to lower the authority of any person before whom the proceeding is to be held.

46 years old man on remand for possession of stolen goods and possession of a firearm

The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Tuesday 12^th December, 2017 arrested and charged Vern O’flaherty of Stoney Ground with possession of stolen goods as well as possession of a firearm.

The alleged offender who appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Friday 20^th December, 2017 charged with the offences was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison to appear before the Magistrate on Thursday 1^st March, 2018 to answer to the charge.

2. There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty;
3. Nothing would be stated or published which would prejudice a fair trial taking place; and

James Hodge of West End captured and now on remand

The Royal Anguilla Police Force reports that wanted person 26 years old James Hodge of West End has been captured.

Hodge who was wanted by the RAPF since early December for attempted murder was captured in St. Maarten on Saturday 30^th December, 2017.

Hodge who appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 2^nd January, 2018 charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm in a public place, possession of a fire arm and possession of ammunition was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.  His matter has been adjourned until the 18^th May, 2018 for hearing.

36 years old man on bail for human trafficking and threat to kill

The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Thursday 28^th December, 2017 arrested and charged 36 years old Reinaldo Antonio Mercedes of South Hill on two counts of human trafficking and two counts of threat to kill.

The alleged offender who was taken before the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 2^nd January, 2018 was granted bail in the sum of EC $80,000.00 with one surety.

His bail conditions includes surrendering of all travel documents, reporting to the Valley Police Station every Monday and Friday, having no contact with the victims in the matter and keeping the peace.

Mercedes is due back in court on Tuesday 24^th April, 2018.
