GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – The St. Maarten Tourist Bureau (STB) which falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT), recently attended the ANATO Tradeshow in Bogota, Columbia together with Anguilla.

This show is one of the largest tourism tradeshows in South America. St. Maarten shared a booth with Anguilla as part of the partnership in marketing the destination to the tourism travel trade.

Though updates are being sent to a lot of the destination partners in the Latin market, it is imperative that St. Maarten remains visible even if only on a small scale, STB pointed out.

One of STBs main agenda points were to meet with Copa airlines regarding the return of flights to St. Maarten.

“We are happy to announce that during the meeting with Copa Representatives and a visit from the Sales Vice President, it has been decided that Copa will resume flights to St. Maarten as of June 2 this year. The flights will commence with two flights and then up to four flights. The new Sales Vice President wants that by the end of next year, to have daily flights to St. Maarten,” STB said on Wednesday.

“All of the tour operators are anxious for St. Maarten to re-open and flights with Copa Airlines to resume. They understand our situation, but at the same time are looking forward to a new St. Maarten and new products on the Island.

“Both destinations intend on making this a reality. The tour operators were very glad that we were present at ANATO and they are looking forward towards further updates and a continued relationship. Now it is up to us to do our part to make this happen,” STB concluded.
