Today, Thursday April 5th, around 3:30pm local time in Antigua and Barbuda, Chief of Police Commissioner Wendell Robinson, through a letter from Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Kelvin John Esquire, was suspended with immediate effect.

The letter from the Chairman of the Police Service Commission demanded that Commissioner Robinson hand over control of the Police Force, the Fire Brigade and such articles and things under his control as the Chief of Police.

With immediate effect, therefore, control of the Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police now falls to Deputy Chief of Police, Commissioner Athney Rodney. The new Acting Chief of Police will also be in charge of an investigation surrounding alleged conduct of the outgoing Chief of Police, Wendell Robinson.
