Port Au Petion-Ville, Haiti — Four members of The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle have just recently returned from the Rotary District 7020 44th Annual PETS Assembly and Conference held at the Karibe Convention Center in Port Au Petion-Ville, Haiti.
Attendance at this event offered the incoming presidents and secretaries of all Rotary Clubs in the district an opportunity to learn more about Rotary and to prepare for the new upcoming Rotary year which starts on July 1st, 2018. Representing Mid Isle were President Elect Denise Antrobus, Secretary Elect Aernout Kraaijeveld along with Rotarians David Antrobus, Louis Wever and partner in service Amanda Wever
The highlight of the conference was the awards ceremony where the District Governor Robert Leger awarded the clubs for the work they had done in their respective communities during the Rotary year 2017-2018. The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle collected six awards.
- The Governor’s Award – Bronze
- Club of the Month Perseverance Award
- Club of the month – silver
- District Governor’s special award for Achievement of at least 90 per cent of members registered with My Rotary
- District Governor’s special award for Outstanding Achievement under Adversity
- Public Image Citation Award
Mid Isle sponsor the St. Dominic High School interact Club and were elated to receive on their behalf the Zone 34 Interact award for being part of ‘Rotary Making a Difference.
The Rotary club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle was honored to receive these recognitions for their work in the community and would like to thank all the sponsors and others who have assisted us in doing well in our community and around the world. We would also like to thank the media for their cooperation in getting the word out about our activities, events and helping us to reach those in the local community when inviting them to participate in our activities.
