AIRPORT – On Wednesday, November 21, a large quantity of what is believed to be marijuana was intercepted by the Custom K9 unit on the airport cargo facility.
A routine check by the Customs K9 unit at the cargo facility of the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) led them to a suspicious carton box. The K9 dog reacted the moment it encountered the box.
Customs officers proceeded to open the box and discovered the marijuana packages inside.
721news contacted Acting Chief of Customs Franklin Bernadina, who confirmed to our newsroom that drugs were confiscated and the total gross weight was 52.66 kg.
“The intensified joint controls of the different units of the justice chain operating at the airport continue to book success. Due to the ongoing investigation no further information can be provided at this time. The intensified controls will continue,” Bernadina said.
