SIMPSON BAY, Sint Maarten — Last Sunday (October 25, 2020) the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard substation in St. Maarten received a notification from Fort Du France (FDF).
A captain who was sailing near St. Maarten had contacted FDF via VHF16 to report a fire onboard his vessel.
The Coast Guard substation in St. Maarten immediately dispatched a Metal Shark team to assist the vessel. Upon arrival of the Metal Shark team, it turned out that the captain already had the fire under control.
The Metal Shark team towed the boat and safely brought it to Great Bay.
