CAYMAN ISLANDS (March 30, 2015) – Health City Cayman Islands has launched new medical oncology services with the opening of its Department of Medical Oncology, spearheaded by resident oncologist Dr. Vineetha Binoy.
The department focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of various cancers using the latest technology in chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy and targeted therapy.
Medical oncology services cover treatment for a wide range of cancers, including cancers of the breast, lung, brain, lymphomas and chronic leukaemia. Supportive care such as helping to manage adult cancer pain, palliative care, antiemesis, transfusions, prevention and treatment of cancer-related infections, distress management and survivorship are also available.
As with all departments at Health City Cayman Islands, the Oncology Department aims to provide the highest quality of individualized care in a compassionate and caring setting with medical and nursing professional support available on site for the patient at any phase of their chemotherapy cycle or supportive care regime. The dedicated Oncology Day Care Unit can accommodate two patients at a time and provides a calm and comfortable environment for patients during their therapy.
Dr. Binoy completed medical school in 2001, and did her residency in Internal Medicine at the prestigious Central Government Institute JIPMER in Pondicherry, India. She then worked at the Institute of Haematology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Australia from 2005 to 2007, where she developed an interest in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.
