DP Congratulates St. Kitts and Nevis on their 40th Anniversary of Independence

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Democratic Party of St. Maarten and its leader, Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams, extend heartfelt congratulations to the people and government of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as they recently celebrated their 40th Anniversary of Independence. This milestone is a testament to the remarkable journey of a nation and its people, marked by resilience, progress, and the unwavering spirit of unity.

The relationship between St. Maarten and St. Kitts and Nevis has deep historical roots, founded on shared Caribbean heritage and a commitment to cooperation whenever possible. Over the years, our two nations have worked together to foster diplomatic ties and mutual respect. This enduring friendship has laid the foundation for collaboration in various areas and cultural exchanges, enriching the lives of our citizens on both sides.

The DP said that one “remarkable aspect of our historical connection” is the hundreds of people from St. Kitts who have made St. Maarten their home. These individuals, the party said, have become an integral part of St. Maarten’s society, contributing their unique talents, skills, and culture to the vibrant tapestry of St. Maarten. It stressed that the dedication and invaluable contributions from the people of the federation, to St. Maarten has played a pivotal role in our growth and development.
