PHILIPSBURG – Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT) Hon. Claret Connor, endorses the upcoming Rotaract District 7020 Conference 2015 which will be taking place here under the banner, “Helping Hands, Touching Hearts, Changing Lives.”
Rotaract is a service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30 who are dedicated to community and international service. Its membership totals over 184,000 in more than 8,000 clubs worldwide.
Rotaract clubs offer guidance and support, making the Rotaract clubs true ‘partners in service’ and key members of the family of Rotary.
Out of 529 districts around the world, District 7020 consists of 10 countries speaking three languages with 51 clubs, and approximately 750 Rotaractors.
These countries include: Anguilla, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, Sint Maarten, St. Martin, Turks & Caicos Islands, and the US Virgin Islands.
The first chartered club in District 7020 is the Rotaract Club of Kingston which was chartered in June 1969, one year after Rotaract was introduced globally.
Since then Rotaract has experienced phenomenal growth throughout the world. The concept of a district structure was introduced to Rotaract by Rotarian Paul Brown in 1998.
Minister Connor has been invited to be a presenter at the Rotaract District 7020 Conference 2015 and will be presenting on the topic, “Being a Leader.” The conference will be held on Thursday, 28th of May from 9.45am to 10.15am at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. In attendance will be approximately 140 Rotaractors.
