PHILIPSBURG, SINT MAARTEN – May 20, 2015 – More than 500 Rotarians from District 7020, which comprises most of the Caribbean, recently attended a Rotary training and awards Conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Representatives from the Rotary Club of St. Maarten; incoming club President Jeffrey “Dr. Soc” Sochrin, Henna Budhrani, James Ferris and Assistant Governor Rebecca Low also attended the conference which also included a training curriculum to prepare for the upcoming Rotary year and beyond.
The Rotary Club of St. Maarten was recognized with several awards during the ceremony. President Elect, Jeffrey Sochrin accepted them on behalf of Club President Deepak Ramchandani. The club was presented with a “Public Image Award” for their work in developing a public image plan, and the initiation of public relations activities that will enhance the visibility of the club in the club. An “Area of Focus Award” was also presented recognizing the Rotary Club of St. Maarten placed a focus on activities that support the youth in terms of literacy, health, and after school activities.
The club also received awards for an “Outstanding Facebook Page”, and an “Outstanding Website”. The Facebook and Website pages were used effectively to offer members and the general public information as to the Club’s activities, causes they support, and even how to become a member.
